EUFAMI’s Annual General Meeting 2023 was successfully concluded in Athens, Greece on 16th and 17th June 2023, in the form of a two-day event and with participants from all over Europe, including members from Belgium, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Greece, France, Portugal, England, Wales, Finland, Italy and Czech Republic.
In a welcoming and heartwarming atmosphere, the event was kicked-off with the Caring for Carers Day Event, organised by the Greek Carers Network NGO EPIONI, where Greek and foreign speakers came together to advocate for human rights in psychiatry and dealing with the stigma of mental illness, as well as to present new projects regarding the promotion of mental health at a local and European level.
During the General Meeting, the former and also current EUFAMI Treasurer, Kevin Jones and Åsa Konradsson-Geuken, covered EUFAMI’s financial position as it stands till present, while EUFAMI’s Executive Director, John Saunders, discussed the organisation’s operational plan for 2023. Communications Officer Dimitra Stefanopoulos, and PROSPECT Project Leader, Gwen Crawford closed off the meeting with presentations on EUFAMI’s ongoing projects.
We are also delighted to announce that EUFAMI has gained three more member organisations, two from Croatia (Lifeline Association and Svitanje), and one from Israel (ISRAFAM).
The two-day event was concluded with a workshop organised by PROSPECT, which gave the participants the opportunity to engage in an invaluable exchange of knowledge and experiences between family and friends, people with lived experience, and health and social care professionals.
On behalf of the EUFAMI Board of Directors, Executive Director and staff, we would like to thank all attending and non-attending members of EUFAMI's General Meeting for their active participation, support and input on all matters.
