Prior to the 2024 European Parliament Elections, EUFAMI has put together a manifesto addressing aspiring MEPs to recognise the role of the family, which is crucial and central in the care of people facing challenging mental health conditions.
By helping to empower families, aspiring MEPs assist to ensure that the voice of the family carers is heard, which is an important step to recognising and protecting the rights of families across Europe.
Furthermore, we at EUFAMI believe that placing the person at the heart of mental health, encouraging the sharing of personal experience and also advocating for the voice of families in Research, builds the foundation of a collective and comprehensive strategy on mental health services, one that should be endorsed and adapted by current and future MEPs.
The European Parliament has a vital role in ensuring that families in Europe affected by severe mental health conditions, receive the support they need to fully participate in their community and socially, financially and politically contribute to its development,
EUFAMI calls on the European Union to act in the interest of families, and in particular those families directly affected by sever mental mental ill health, to ensure that they are represented and support at European and national level.
